The Bury Free Press of 15th June 1918 reported :-
DALHAM - DIED ON SERVICE

We regret having to record the death of a very useful and industrious member of the Royal Engineers, who until about two years since had been employed as a plumber in the Hall estate for about five years previous. Lance-Corpl Geo.E.Coleman was a native of Woodbridge, and since his residence here had interested himself in the village Methodist Chapel, and especially in connection with the Sunday School. The official notice of his death states that he died of pneumonia at Salonica after a short illness. The Chaplain in connection with the hospital writing to his wife states that everything that medical and nursing skill could do was done, but he passed away peacefully on Whit Monday, but was conscious and talked about his home and chapel. On Sunday last the circuit minister (the Rev. A.J.Ogg) conducted a memorial service to his memory in the chapel where he had done so much.....
